Netflix Greenlights New Horror Series From ‘Stranger Things’ Creators
Netflix has given the go-ahead for a new horror series with the creators of ‘Stranger Things’, Matt and Ross Duffer, serving as executive producers. This move continues their successful collaboration with Netflix, as ‘Stranger Things’ approaches its final season. Fans have been curious about the future projects of the Duffer brothers, and Netflix has now greenlit a new series featuring them.
This upcoming horror series, tentatively titled ‘Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen,’ is a collaboration with Haley Z. Boston, who will serve as the showrunner. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the series, described as an “atmospheric horror set at a wedding,” will follow a bride and groom in the week leading up to their ominous wedding day. Matt and Ross Duffer will produce the series through their company, Upside Down Pictures, alongside Hilary Leavitt.

The Duffers expressed their excitement about the project, praising Haley’s script as “twisted, terrifying, and humorous” and highlighting her as a major new talent. They feel fortunate to produce her first show and are eager to bring her vision to life. Peter Friedlander, Netflix’s VP of Scripted Series for the US and Canada, also shared his enthusiasm for collaborating again with the Duffers and Hilary to realize Haley’s unique and spine-tingling story.
In addition to this new series, the Duffer brothers are busy working on the final season of ‘Stranger Things’ and have several other projects in the pipeline with Netflix, including the series ‘The Boroughs,’ which will begin production this fall, and a live-action adaptation of the manga series ‘Death Note.’
Given the Duffers’ passion for horror, fantasy, and science fiction, their upcoming productions are likely to follow a similar tone to ‘Stranger Things’. While details about ‘Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen,’ including the cast and premiere date, remain scarce, the involvement of the Duffers makes it a highly anticipated project.
