Netflix Orders New Episodes of ‘The Three-Body Problem’: Get The Inside Scoop
The hit sci-fi series ‘3 Body Problem’ on Netflix, starring Liam Cunningham and Benedict Wong, is set to receive a fresh batch of episodes. The show’s writers have confirmed that these new instalments will bring the storyline to its conclusion. Netflix has greenlit more episodes for the acclaimed science fiction series, committing to completing Cixin Liu’s trilogy.
Producers David Benioff, Dan B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo are eager to deliver a riveting finale to their narrative. While the exact number of episodes or seasons is yet to be revealed, the initial plan was to produce four seasons.

In addition to this renewal, Benioff and Weiss have extended their partnership with Netflix for multiple years, which encompasses upcoming projects such as ‘Death by Lightning.’
The series follows humanity’s first encounter with an alien civilisation, stemming from a pivotal decision made by a young woman in 1960s China, reverberating across time and space to the present day. As a team of scientists and a detective band together to confront this existential threat, the story unfolds with gripping intensity.
In a joint statement, Benioff, Weiss, and Woo expressed their excitement about bringing Cixin Liu’s trilogy to life, stating, “Ever since we read the last page of Cixin Liu’s magnificent trilogy, we hoped we’d be able to bring the audience to the end of the universe with us. Here we go!”
Despite its modest beginnings, ‘3 Body Problem’ soared to become Netflix’s top television show for three consecutive weeks and ranked in the top 10 worldwide for seven weeks. The series has earned praise from critics, with Rotten Tomatoes scores climbing to 80%, while viewers have rated it at 78%.

With a production cost exceeding $20 million per episode, ‘3 Body Problem’ stands as one of Netflix’s most expensive series to date. This figure excludes the cost of acquiring the rights to Cixin Liu’s novels, which serve as the foundation of the show.
