Netflix is doubling down on one of its biggest breakout hits. The streamer has officially renewed 'Wednesday' for a third season, continuing the story of the dark and witty Addams Family reboot starring Jenna Ortega. Alongside the renewal, Netflix is also developing a new 'Wednesday' spinoff, expanding the Tim Burton-led universe even further.
The announcement comes just ahead of the 'Wednesday' Season 2 premiere, which is set to debut on 6th August. The show's debut season was a massive success, quickly becoming the most-watched original series in Netflix history with over 250 million views. Its popularity also earned the series 12 Emmy nominations, including a nod for Jenna Ortega in the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category.

What is 'Wednesday' About?
Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, with Tim Burton serving as executive producer, 'Wednesday' follows the iconic character as she’s expelled from her school and sent to Nevermore Academy, a mysterious institution for supernatural outcasts. The series mixes gothic mystery, coming-of-age drama, and quirky dark humour, earning praise from both critics and fans alike.
The core cast features Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, alongside Gwendoline Christie, Emma Myers, and Riki Lindhome. Emma Myers, who plays Enid Sinclair, has seen a meteoric rise in popularity thanks to the role, and is now set to headline 'A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder' for BBC and Netflix.

For Season 2, the series is expanding its ensemble. Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo have been promoted to series regulars. New cast members joining the eerie world include Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Owen Painter, Evie Templeton, and Noah Taylor.
While official details about the 'Wednesday' spinoff remain under wraps, both Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega have confirmed that development is underway. Though the exact premise and characters involved are still top secret, the news confirms Netflix’s commitment to building a broader Wednesday universe.
