Get ready for an intense showdown in the Australian outback. Netflix just dropped the official trailer for 'Apex,' a high-stakes survival thriller starring Oscar-winning Charlize Theron and 'Kingsman' star Taron Egerton. The film, which released its first look on 25th March, features a tense game of cat-and-mouse set against a beautiful but deadly wilderness.

A Brutal Fight for Survival

In the film 'Apex,' the 50-year-old Theron plays Sasha, a woman dealing with deep grief who travels to the remote Australian bush to find some peace. However, her quiet retreat quickly turns into a nightmare when she encounters a ruthless predator, played by the 36-year-old Egerton. What follows is a "white-knuckle" battle where Sasha must use every bit of her strength to stay alive.

The production took the cast and crew to New South Wales, filming in rugged locations like the Blue Mountains near Sydney. Working with director Baltasar Kormákur, Theron pushed her physical limits further than ever before. She spent months training, kayaking, and climbing daily to prepare for the role. Impressively, she performed her own stunts, scaling actual mountains throughout the movie—often doing so barefoot.

Despite her long history as an action icon, Theron admitted that rock climbing was a brand-new challenge for her. Aside from climbing trees as a child in Africa, she had no experience with the sport before 'Apex,' but she found the process both fun and rewarding.

The film also marks a major milestone for Theron: the chance to finally work with Australian actor Eric Bana. The two stars have been trying to collaborate on a project for over twenty years, but timing never seemed to work out. Theron jumped at the chance to cast him in 'Apex,' praising his performance during his three weeks on set.

What's Next for the Stars

Both leads have been incredibly busy lately. Theron recently appeared in 'The Old Guard 2' and had a memorable cameo in the comedy series 'The Studio.' Later this year, she'll be seen in Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated film, 'The Odyssey.' Meanwhile, Egerton is coming off successful runs in the movie 'She Rides Shotgun' and the series 'Smoke.'

You won't have to wait long to see this duo in action. The hunt begins when 'Apex' starts streaming on Netflix on 24th April, 2026.
