Niall Horan Walks to Concert Due to Traffic: “I Don’t Think I’ve Walked to a Venue”

Niall Horan recently shared a humourous and unexpected moment with his fans. Over the weekend of June 28 and 29, the former One Direction star performed two concerts at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada. However, on the first night, Horan found himself stuck in heavy traffic and decided to ditch his transport, opting to walk to the venue instead.

In a video posted on Instagram, Horan is seen strolling through the streets of Toronto with his crew, all while a long line of cars is stuck in a traffic jam beside them. Soundtracked by the Proclaimers’ classic hit ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’, the clip captures the unexpected journey. Horan can say, “Traffic is too crazy in Toronto, so I’m walking to the venue.”

The singer seemed to take the situation in stride, noting, “In all my years of playing shows I don’t think I’ve ever walked into a venue.” Upon finally reaching the Scotiabank Arena, he triumphantly exclaimed, “We’ve made it!”

This amusing incident happened shortly after the release of Horan’s latest album, ‘The Show,’ which came out in early June last year. In an interview with NME ahead of the album’s release, Horan reflected on the changes in his music and personal growth.

“The last time I wrote an album I did less thinking. You don’t in your early 20s, you don’t think too much at all – well I didn’t anyway, probably just immaturity of me. But I think with pandemics and relationships and things like that, you subconsciously grow as a person. And then production-wise and what I’m saying [lyrically], it just sounds like something that a 30-year-old would release. Not a youthful version of what I did before.”
