Nicolas Cage Says He Won’t Play Dark Roles Again

Nicolas Cage is back on the big screen, taking on the role of a wild serial killer in Osgood Perkins’ latest horror film, ‘Longlegs.’ Starring alongside Maika Monroe, Cage once again demonstrates why he’s considered one of the finest actors in the industry. However, this might be one of the last times we see him in such a violent role.

In a candid interview with The New Yorker, Cage shared his thoughts on his career and his latest film. In ‘Longlegs,’ he plays the titular character, while Maika Monroe stars as FBI agent Lee Harker. The plot follows Harker as she investigates a series of murder-suicides, only to uncover a sinister, Satanic plot that has haunted her family since childhood.

Yet, he clarified his stance: “I don’t like violence and I don’t want to portray characters who are hurting people.”

Reflecting on his diverse career, Cage feels blessed to have played an eclectic range of characters. He particularly appreciates his role in ‘Longlegs,’ noting its uniqueness compared to his previous roles. He shared an interesting anecdote about his first meeting with director Osgood Perkins.
