Nicole Kidman Applauds Olivia Rodrigo For Recreating AMC Theatres Ad: ‘Won Me Major Points With My Daughters’

Singer Olivia Rodrigo recently delighted fans with a playful TikTok video that pays tribute to Nicole Kidman. The clip features Rodrigo playfully recreating Kidman’s now-iconic 2021 commercial for AMC Theatres.

Kidman, clearly amused by Rodrigo’s recreation, took to her Instagram Story to share the TikTok video along with a heartwarming message. “You just won me some major points with my girls!” she wrote, referencing her daughters Faith Margaret and Sunday Rose.

The original commercial, featuring Kidman’s voiceover, showcases the allure of the movie-going experience. In her TikTok homage, Rodrigo perfectly captures the essence of the commercial, walking around the expansive Bell Centre stadium, in Montreal, Canada, where she’s about to perform. She meticulously explores the various seating areas, mimicking Kidman’s movements with a touch of comedic flair before finally settling into a seat.

In a recent interview, Kidman shed light on the making of the She revealed that filming the commercial coincided with her work on the movie Kidman expressed her strong desire to support the film industry and encourage audiences to return to theatres in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It was just the desire to keep cinemas alive,” she said. “I’ve had the best experiences in cinema. I’d pretend I was going to school; I’d forge a note, and I’d go and sit in a movie theatre. That’s a haven for me, so the idea of those not existing — that’s just not part of the equation in my lifetime.”

“If that’s what it takes, I’ll do whatever it takes,” Kidman added of the advertisement’s popularity, which has been made fun of in the two-plus years since it debuted. “We have to have some more ideas for the next one.”
