Nicole Kidman Received Discouraging Advice That She Would Never Land Roles Due to Being 'Too Tall'

During a recent interview on the 'Radio Times' podcast, Nicole Kidman candidly shared her past insecurities regarding her height, expressing concern that it might hinder her chances of securing diverse roles. Standing tall at 5'11", the acclaimed Moulin Rouge! The actress disclosed that there were instances when she felt she missed out on certain opportunities in the industry due to her height. 

Kidman's open discussion as she faced and the personal growth she underwent in overcoming these concerns, provided valuable insights into the nuanced experiences of actors in the entertainment industry.

Nicole revealed that when she was a kid, she used to be bullied on occasion because of her height. “I was teased and called Stalky,” she said on the podcast. “People would say, ‘How’s the air up there?’” She continued and said that some people would warn her that she was too tall to have a professional acting career. “I was told, ‘You won’t have a career. You’re too tall,'” she explained.

In addition to her acting endeavours, Nicole Kidman shared a lighthearted anecdote about her preferences when attending events, playfully revealing her tendency to request smaller heels. The actress, known for her towering height, humorously navigates the world of fashion and red carpets, opting for a more grounded stance on certain occasions. 

Moreover, Kidman acknowledged that, despite maintaining overall health, her significant height has presented a few challenges, particularly contributing to issues with her knees.

This candid disclosure offers a glimpse into the intersection of celebrity life, personal comfort choices and the physical considerations that individuals in the spotlight may navigate. “Whenever I go on the red carpet, I get shoes always so high. I’m like, ‘Do they have a kitten heel? I’m going to be the tallest person — a giraffe!” she quipped.
