Nicole Kidman Shares Nostalgic Throwback Video From Debut Role

Nicole Kidman celebrates her forty-one-year Hollywood career!

The Oscar-winning actress shared a sentimental throwback video from her very first role at the age of 14 on Instagram on Tuesday, 23rd April. Her acceptance of the esteemed ‘American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement’ Award on 27th April is preceded by this special post.

The 56-year-old actress thanked the many gifted people she has had the honour of working with and the variety of characters she has played over her remarkable career in the sentimental comment that accompanied the photo.

Kidman’s remarkable portrayal of Rae Ingram in ‘Dead Calm’ (1989) became her breakthrough performance in the United States, coming just six years after her debut appearance.

In 2023, Kidman became the first Australian actor to be named a recipient of the prestigious AFI Life Achievement Award when it was announced. Kidman was hailed by the AFI as a formidable actor, enthralling film star, and skilled producer who regularly turns in complex and varied performances on screen.

Kidman has worked with notable directors on a variety of genres throughout her career, receiving praise from critics and numerous nominations for esteemed honours, including five nominations for the Academy Award and one victory for her depiction of Virginia Woolf in ‘The Hours’ (2003).

In an exclusive interview honouring PEOPLE’s 50th anniversary, Kidman discussed her path of personal growth and self-discovery in front of the camera and expressed her gratitude for the audience’s constant support over the years. Kidman’s advice to her younger self, reflecting on her incredible career, is to “be kind to yourself.”

The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles will host the ‘AFI Life Achievement’ Award Tribute to Nicole Kidman on 27th April. TNT and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will televise the event later.
