Normani is embracing her lover girl phase as she steps into the spotlight with her debut album, Dopamine. In an interview with Rolling Stone, released on June 5th, the former Fifth Harmony member opened up about her relationship with DeKaylin ‘DK’ Metcalf.
Expressing her happiness, the 28-year-old singer described her connection with Metcalf as an answered prayer. “I’ve experienced a lot with relationships,” she shared. “I’m a real lover girl. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and finding space where that’s reciprocated feels good. I like to see myself happy. I really do.”

Normani credited the Seattle Seahawks wide receiver, 26, for inspiring several songs on her album. The couple made their relationship public on Instagram in July 2023, sharing a snapshot from their attendance at Seahawks player Tyler Lockett’s wedding.
Their romance initially caught attention in June 2022 when they were spotted dining together at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, California. Normani revealed in a May interview with Essence that her friend Ciara played a role in matchmaking them. “She’s the one that did set me and my man up,” she disclosed.
