Former American football star O.J. Simpson passed away at the age of 76, as announced by his family on X on 11th April 1. In their statement, his family shared that Simpson lost his battle with cancer on 10th April, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. They requested privacy and respect during this difficult time.

Born on 9th July 1947, in San Francisco, Simpson began his professional football career with the Buffalo Bills in 1968, where he played for 11 seasons. Alongside his football career, he ventured into acting, appearing in notable television series and films such as 'Roots,' 'The Towering Inferno' and 'The Klansman.'

However, Simpson's life took a dramatic turn in the 1990s when he became embroiled in a highly publicised murder trial involving the deaths of his second wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. Despite being acquitted of the murders, Simpson was later found liable for their deaths in a civil suit brought by the victims' families.

The trial, which lasted from November 1994 to October 1995, captivated the nation's attention, with Simpson's defence team including prominent figures like Robert Shapiro and Robert Kardashian. The subsequent 'American Crime Story' series, 'The People V O.J. Simpson,' received critical acclaim, winning multiple awards for its portrayal of the trial.

In 2007, Simpson faced legal troubles again when he was arrested in Las Vegas and charged with kidnapping and armed robbery. He served a 33-year sentence, with a minimum of nine years without parole, before being granted parole in July 2017 and released in October of the same year.

Recently, in February of this year, it was announced that Simpson was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. His passing marks the end of a life marked by athletic achievements and legal controversies, leaving behind a complex and controversial legacy.
