Oliver Hudson Says Trauma Comments Have Nothing to Do With Mom Goldie Hawn

In a recent episode of his podcast co-hosted by his sister Kate Hudson, Oliver Hudson attempted to clarify comments he made about experiencing childhood trauma. Apparently, these comments caused some tension with their mother, Goldie Hawn.

Oliver emphasised that his initial remarks were misinterpreted. He explained that his focus was on his childhood perspective, specifically the feelings of a young child grappling with an absent father figure. “It’s more about my child’s feelings at that moment rather than me and how I feel about Mom as a parent,” he clarified.

Oliver expressed immense love and respect for his mother, crediting her for shaping who he is today. “The love that I have for her and the respect and the reverence that I have for her is beyond anything,” he stated. He acknowledged that the initial word choice, “trauma,” was misleading and overblown.

While acknowledging his mother’s dedication as a parent, Oliver also shared his childhood experience of feeling emotionally vulnerable at times. He explained, “This was my own perception as a child who didn’t have a dad and who needed her to be there, and she just wasn’t sometimes.”

These feelings stemmed from Goldie Hawn’s busy career and personal life, which occasionally left Oliver feeling unprotected.

Oliver seems intent on moving forward, urging listeners to disregard the misunderstanding and suggesting that “trauma” has become a sensationalised term. He concluded by reiterating his deep appreciation for his mother.
