Whoopi Goldberg recalled how their different career paths merged during the production. While she was coming from the world of theatre, Oprah Winfrey was already making a name for herself in television.

Oprah even remembered a specific moment during filming when she had to step away to sign the contract for her iconic talk show. She laughed as she recalled Whoopi being curious and a bit confused about what kind of show Oprah was leaving to go start.
