Oscars 2024: Ryan Gosling Set to Dazzle With Live Performance of ‘I’m Just Ken’

Ending months of speculation, Ryan Gosling is confirmed to grace the Oscars stage with a live performance of ‘I’m Just Ken.’ Sources reveal that the actor will sing the Academy Award-nominated song from the movie ‘Barbie’ during the 96th annual ceremony on 10th March. Despite earlier uncertainty about Gosling’s willingness to showcase his singing skills, it has been officially announced that he will take the stage.

In a Variety cover story in February, Gosling mentioned that the Academy had not approached him for a performance, stating, “It might be too much of a risk to have me do it.” However, he expressed openness to the idea. Mark Ronson, the song’s co-writer, shared his dream of Gosling performing at the Oscars during the Grammys, emphasizing that there was no backup plan if Gosling declined.

‘I’m Just Ken’ is one of the two Oscar-nominated songs from ‘Barbie,’ the other being ‘What Was I Made For?’ by Billie Eilish and Finneas, which won the Grammy for ‘Best Song Written for Visual Media.’

Zendaya, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Academy Award recipients Nicolas Cage and Al Pacino are among the initial presenters announced for the 96th Oscars ceremony. The lineup also features last year’s four acting winners, including Brendan Fraser from ‘The Whale,’ and Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis from the acclaimed best picture ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once.’

The Oscars, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will be broadcast on ABC on 10th March at 4 p.m. PT. The news of Gosling’s performance was initially reported by DailyMail.com.
