Ozzy Osbourne Sets Sights on Oscar, Inspired by Elton John’s Success

During a recent instalment of the SiriusXM series Ozzy Speaks, the legendary musician and former Black Sabbath frontman, Ozzy Osbourne, shared a desire that goes beyond his already impressive array of achievements. In a candid conversation with co-host Billy Morrison, Osbourne expressed a longstanding aspiration to add an Academy Award, popularly known as an Oscar, to his collection of accolades.

The topic arose as Morrison inquired, “Is there an achievement that you haven’t got yet that you would like?” To which Osbourne promptly replied with a single word that echoed his ambitions: “Oscar.” This revelation came from a music icon who has already secured multiple Grammy Awards and is on the brink of receiving his second induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, this time as a solo artist, following Black Sabbath’s induction in 2006.

However, Osbourne’s desire for an Oscar doesn’t stem from a sudden interest in acting. When Morrison humorously pointed out the need to be in a movie to earn an Oscar, Osbourne clarified that he was referring to Elton John’s achievement of winning an Oscar for a song.

Despite this playful banter, Osbourne’s immediate focus remains on his ongoing recovery from spinal surgeries following a serious fall in 2019, which has temporarily sidelined his performing career. His humour shone through as he jokingly expressed a wish to do a gig without any mishaps, quipping about his surgeon’s careful approach to his recovery.

Reflecting on his impending second Rock Hall induction, Osbourne conveyed a deep sense of honour and significance, noting that this recognition for his solo career feels distinctively meaningful compared to his earlier induction with Black Sabbath.

Osbourne’s enduring legacy in the music industry, spanning decades of iconic performances and groundbreaking contributions, continues to evolve, with his eyes set on new heights even as he navigates personal challenges.
