Pamela Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis and Dave Bautista Coming to ‘The Last Showgirl’
Pamela Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka and Billie Lourd are set to grace the screen together in an upcoming film helmed by director Gia Coppola.
Titled ‘The Last Showgirl,’ the movie, written by Kate Gersten and produced by Robert Schwartzman and Natalie Farrey, boasts a star-studded cast. The news was first reported on 1st February.
The storyline revolves around a seasoned showgirl in her fifties whose long-running show comes to an abrupt close after three decades. As she grapples with an uncertain future, the character embarks on a journey to mend her relationship with her daughter.
Expressing her excitement, Coppola, 37, shared, “I’ve always wanted to make a movie in Vegas. I’m so proud of our cast and crew, especially Pamela. I can’t wait to share her daring and heartfelt performance!”
Robert Schwartzman echoed the sentiment, calling it a “dream project” with a “dream cast.” He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to tell an authentic Las Vegas story that pays homage to the iconic ‘Showgirl’, all while embracing Gia’s unique style and visual storytelling.
Although the film has recently concluded production, an official release date is yet to be announced. Gia Coppola confirmed the wrap-up with an Instagram post featuring a clapperboard adorned with signatures from the cast and crew.
Jamie Lee Curtis adds another notable role to her repertoire following her 2023 Academy Award win for ‘Best Supporting Actress’ in ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once.’ Apart from her impactful role in the seven-time Oscar-winning film, the 65-year-old actress made a guest appearance in the 10-time Emmy-winning series ‘The Bear,’ playing the mother of Jeremy Allen White’s character, Carmy.
Pamela Anderson, on the other hand, took centre stage as the subject of her son Brandon Lee’s 2023 documentary, ‘Pamela, A Love Story,’ which earned two Emmy Award nominations. The Netflix documentary was recognized in the categories of Best Documentary or Nonfiction Special and Best Documentary Music Composition.
Dave Bautista, known for his role as Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel franchise ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ recently concluded his tenure in the iconic series. The 55-year-old former pro-wrestler-turned-actor also showcased his talent in the Oscar-nominated film ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.’
Gia Coppola’s upcoming feature marks her return after the 2022 movie ‘The Seven Faces of Jane,’ continuing her journey in the world of filmmaking.
