Paul Rudd Had A “Horrible” And “Restrictive” Diet While Playing Ant-Man

Paul Rudd revealed he had to undergo a “horrible” and “restrictive” diet to get in shape for his gig in the ‘Ant-Man’ series. Chatting on the ‘Off Menu’ podcast, hosts Ed Gamble and James Acaster asked Rudd about his water preferences.

“In the throes of ‘Ant-Man’ prep, where I had to embrace this seriously strict diet, my guilty pleasure was sparkling water,” he chuckled. “Yeah, that’s how grim the diet got. Sparkling water became my victory sip – like, ‘Okay, I’ve earned this.'”

Rudd spilled the details of his grind, mentioning that even though he was hitting the gym hard, his reward was often a bubbly beverage. Acaster was curious if it genuinely felt like a treat.

“I guess it did in a way,” Rudd pondered, “but let’s be real, I was sweating it out more than anyone, eating cleaner than everyone, and yet, my physique wasn’t winning any awards. I had to put in all this effort just to look, well, not exactly fabulous.” “Yeah, it was great,” he casually noted, emphasizing the lack of crazy flavours in his meals.

Gamble jumped in, wondering if the whole crew was on edge due to hunger during those times. Rudd reflected, “I can’t say for sure. I do recall on ‘Endgame,’ Chris Hemsworth would be chowing down on this Tupperware concoction – a mash of who-knows-what. He’s pumping iron, and you’re standing next to him, thinking, ‘Why am I torturing myself when he’s living his best gruel-filled life?’ It’s a harsh reality. At least I wasn’t Thor; Ant-Man had its perks. But I tried to get fit, and it just didn’t pan out.”
