PSY And Hwasa Perform A Snippet Of ‘When The Rain Begins To Fall’ By Jermaine Jackson
Psy and MAMAMOO member Hwasa have scheduled the release of a cover of Jermaine Jackson and Pia Zadora’s smash ballad “When The Rain Begins To Fall,” which was released in 1984.
Psy previewed the cover in a series of social media posts and videos on 20th April. Their version of the song will be called ‘Now,’ and it will be a copy of Seoul Family’s 1987 song of the same name, which was a remake of Jackson and Zadora’s ‘When the Rain Begins to Fall.’
“I thought it was a brand new song that Psy will be releasing,” Hwasa said of the upcoming release in one of the teasers. “When I first heard it, I was shocked. I thought he [would send] over a hip-hop track, or something along those lines.”
Meanwhile, Psy revealed his thoughts on working with Hwasa on the upcoming album. “There was no better fit for Hwasa than this,” the artist explained. “I promise I’m not exaggerating when I say if I couldn’t get Hwasa on this track, I wasn’t going to release it.”
Hwasa is the latest collaborator to appear on Psy’s upcoming album, ‘PSY 9th,’ which will be released on 29th April. For the new song ‘Happier,’ Psy will collaborate with K-R&B singer-songwriter Crush, as well as Epik High’s Tablo, Heize, Sung Si-kyung and others.
Psy quit longtime agency YG Entertainment a year after the release of his eighth full-length album, ‘Psy 8th 4X2=8,’ in 2017. In early 2019, he founded his own label, P Nation, and in the same year, he signed Korean-American rapper and singer Jessi, HyunA and former PENTAGON member DAWN.
