‘Rebel Moon’ Movies Will Have Director’s Cuts, Says Zack Snyder

Zack Snyder has exciting news for fans of his ‘Rebel Moon’ films: director’s cuts are on the way and set to hit Netflix soon. Announced yesterday (June 11) via social media, Snyder revealed that both extended versions will be available for streaming on August 2. They’ve got new, grittier titles too: ‘Chapter One: Chalice of Blood’ and ‘Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness.’

Snyder has described these versions as “viciously s*xier, bloodier” than the original films. Expect an R-rating and significantly longer runtimes, with Snyder noting, “It’s a full hour longer. It’s not just slightly different or a little bit more. There are big chunks of the movie that are different.”

This marks a first for Snyder, as he explained, “This was the first time I had ever been able to make a movie and plan for that. The cut was not me fighting with them like, ‘Okay, you won’t do what I want. Can I at least release it on DVD?’ It was us going together.”

The ‘Rebel Moon’ saga stars Sofia Boutella as the formidable warrior Kora, with an impressive cast that includes Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Cleopatra Coleman, Jena Malone, Ed Skrein, Fra Fee, and Anthony Hopkins, who portrays an android on a quest for self-discovery.
