Rihanna is Always There To Help
The number of domestic and child abuse cases during this quarantine period have increased rapidly and it’s turned into a crisis. But thankfully, Rihanna has stepped in. She along with Twitter’s CEO have donated 4.2 million dollars as a joint grant to the Mayor’s Fund Los Angeles in order to help provide support to victims of domestic abuse.
The fund ensures to give shelter, food and counselling to those in suffering, according to the Los Angeles Housing Authority, 90 domestic violence cases will be taken care of per week for the course of 10 weeks.
Rihanna has been quite active when it comes to humanitarian efforts, in fact, just last week, she donated 2 million dollars to help those who have undocumented workers, the incarcerted workers, homeless, elderly populations and children of frontline healthcare workers in Los Angeles and New York City amid this coronavirus pandemic.
We truly love the support coming in from artists across the globe, because these relief efforts are the need of the hour right now. “For someone in an abusive relationship this is kind of a worst-case scenario, compound with the fact that access to service is more difficult than ever.” Alyson Messenger, a managing staff attorney for domestic violence organization, the Jenesse Center, explained in a recent interview.
Well, with help from artists world over, we still have hope.
