Robert Pattinson And Robert Downey Jr.’s Comedy Film is Not Happening

Adam McKay has decided to hit pause on the serial killer comedy, ‘Average Height, Average Build,’ which was all set to feature the stellar cast of Robert Pattinson, Amy Adams and Robert Downey Jr. The film, originally slated for production by Netflix, is now in limbo as McKay steps away from the project.

Instead of exploring the darkly humorous realm of murderers, McKay is reportedly shifting gears towards a film that delves into the pressing issue of climate change. It’s a topic not typically associated with laughter, but McKay, known for tackling serious subjects with a comedic touch, has previously navigated the financial crash of 2008 in ‘The Big Short,’ the Iraq War in ‘Vice’ and natural disasters in ‘Don’t Look Up.’

In the abandoned project, ‘Average Height, Average Build,’ Robert Pattinson was set to play a serial killer with an unconventional agenda – seeking the assistance of a lobbyist, portrayed by Amy Adams, to alter laws in his favour, allowing him to commit crimes without consequences. Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr. was cast as a retired cop on a mission to bring the elusive killer to justice, creating a satirical take on Beltway dysfunction.

McKay, an Oscar-winning writer for ‘The Big Short,’ has a history of turning serious issues into entertaining narratives. His decision to pivot towards a climate change-themed movie raises questions about how he’ll inject humour into such a weighty topic and whether Netflix will be involved in this new cinematic venture.

As the fate of the comedy remains uncertain, McKay’s track record with Netflix, including the production of ‘Don’t Look Up,’ leaves fans wondering if the streaming giant will be part of his upcoming exploration of climate change on the big screen.
