Robert Pattinson Claps Back at ‘Twilight’ Hate: ‘Are You Still Stuck on That?’

The fact that ‘Twilight’ is still being criticised almost twenty years after the first movie came out surprises Robert Pattinson. The actor became a teen idol after playing the vampire lead, Edward Cullen, in the five-film series based on Stephenie Meyer’s well-known young adult novels. His romance with co-star Kristen Stewart, who portrayed Bella Swan, contributed to his notoriety. The pair dated from 2009 until 2012, got back together for a short while and broke up once more in 2013.
The franchise divided fans and reviewers despite its enormous box-office success. Bella and Edward’s relationship has been seen as poisonous by some, who contend that the series hasn’t held up well over time.
Pattinson has been perplexed as to why the ‘Twilight’ series continues to elicit such intense responses nearly two decades later. People frequently tell him that the series destroyed the vampire genre, he said, and he wondered why someone would still be bothered by something that happened so long ago.

In a different story, Pattinson recounted that despite his roles in well-known films like Christopher Nolan’s ‘Tenet’ and Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’, a stranger asked him why he had quit acting after ‘Twilight’. He laughed and clarified that the visitor thought it was absurd that he had just replied, “I’m Batman,” in response to the query.
The release date of Pattinson’s upcoming film, ‘Mickey 17’, a sci-fi black comedy directed by Bong Joon-ho, was recently rescheduled from 31st January to 18th April 2025. ‘The Batman 2’ has also been postponed; it will now be released on 1st October 2027. James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, defended the long break between the two movies by saying that it’s rather typical.
