Ryan Gosling And Emily Blunt Award Record to ‘The Fall Guy’ Stunt Performer

Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt have every reason to celebrate with their latest movie — they’ve broken a special record!

‘The Fall Guy,’ directed by David Leitch and based on the popular 1980s CBS drama of the same name, is packed with explosions, thrilling car chases, daring falls from great heights and the incredible work of stunt performers who fearlessly tackle these challenges.

During a special screening of the film in Los Angeles, Gosling and Blunt presented Logan Holladay with a Guinness World Record for the most cannon rolls performed in a car.

Guinness World Records recognises various human achievements and stunts are no exception. In the case of ‘The Fall Guy,’ Holladay earned the record for executing “an astonishing eight and a half rolls” in a car during filming in Australia in 2022, according to a press release from Universal Pictures.

Explaining the cannon roll stunt, the release describes it as a classic manoeuvre dating back to the early days of cinema. It involves fitting a cannon-like device beneath a car that shoots towards the ground. As the car reaches a specific speed, the mechanism triggers, propelling the vehicle into a series of rolls.

Commenting on his achievement, Holladay said, “When I learned about ‘The Fall Guy’ going into production, I knew I had to be part of it. After two practice runs and one real take, we had one car and one shot left. I had a pretty good feeling that I had broken the record because it felt like the spinning was never going to stop. It was a surreal moment, and I’m incredibly proud of what the team achieved.”

Joining the impressive stunt team in ‘The Fall Guy’ is Hannah Waddingham as a movie producer, Winston Duke as a stunt coordinator, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as a cocky leading man whose disappearance sets off the story’s events and Stephanie Hsu as his overwhelmed assistant.

Leitch explained that he considered stunt performers as “the ninjas of the movie business” and wanted to honour their craft by remaking ‘The Fall Guy’ into a feature-length homage.

“They’re the ones that really make the magic happen,” said the director. “I just thought it was time to tell a story from their perspective.”
