The enthusiasm continued with fans urging more men to embrace such open, supportive relationships. “Normalize this type of conversation between men,” one person wrote. Another noted, “Lovely seeing celebrity friendships that are genuine and supportive. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s banter is always entertaining, but it’s great to know they have a deep and meaningful connection off-screen.”

“Love this duo of friendship on and off screen! Beautiful human beings doing great things out in the world,” added another fan, capturing the widespread sentiment.

Reynolds and Jackman’s friendship dates back to 2008 when they first met on the set of ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’. Reynolds was cast as Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool, and Jackman, already a veteran of the ‘X-Men’ franchise, warmly welcomed the newcomer.

“There are probably fewer friends in our life that you can say anything to, the stuff you’re ashamed, embarrassed, anything,” Jackman shared in PEOPLE’s cover story, hitting newsstands Friday. He praised Reynolds as an “unbelievable listener,” noting that their walks together have been filled with honest and non-judgmental conversations. “So you can tell me anything and I can tell you anything, and I don’t feel like you’re going to be judging or necessarily giving me the answer: ‘Do this.’ And I think that has been the key.”

Reynolds has since turned Deadpool into a major franchise and convinced Jackman to reprise his role as Wolverine for the first time since 2017’s ‘Logan’ in their upcoming movie, directed by Shawn Levy. Sharing their PEOPLE covers on Instagram, Reynolds quipped, “Does this make ‘Deadpool’ Movie the sexiest movie alive?” while Jackman joked, “One of these covers is going to sell way more copies.”

The much-anticipated ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ hits theatres on 26th July.
