Over the past year, Carpenter has elevated her career, including opening for Taylor Swift on select dates of the Eras Tour in 2023 and achieving immense success with singles like ‘Please Please Please’ and ‘Espresso’, ahead of her upcoming album release, ‘Short n’ Sweet’.

In a recent interview, the ‘Feather’ singer discussed the overwhelming popularity of ‘Espresso’. “My mom has been like, ‘Do you feel crazy right now?’” she shared, reflecting on the song’s success. Carpenter expressed her delight that audiences appreciate her sense of humour and unapologetic approach to music. “I decided to put that burden on other people,” she joked, referring to the song’s irresistibly catchy chorus.

‘Espresso’, which cleverly uses the coffee drink as a metaphor for infatuation, even inspired a collaboration for an espresso ice cream flavour with Van Leeuwen and garnered praise from Adele. Meanwhile, “Please Please Please,” another standout track, has also garnered widespread acclaim.

Carpenter’s friend Joey King playfully teased the singer in an interview about her knack for releasing addictive music. “It’s so rude of her to make a hit like that,” King joked, referring to ‘Please Please Please’. She humorously lamented being captivated by the song’s music video, which features Carpenter’s boyfriend, Barry Keoghan. “It’s really rude to make me watch it six times at 2:00 a.m. when I want to go to bed,” King quipped, highlighting Carpenter’s ability to captivate audiences with both her music and visuals.
