Sabrina Carpenter Shares What She Seeks in a Partner Amidst Barry Keoghan Romance
Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has recently shared her thoughts on dating and what she seeks in a partner in her latest interview with Cosmopolitan UK.
The singer, who is 25 now, described her dating life as both “fun” and “messy,” dismissing the idea that she has a specific type despite online speculations. “The internet loves to put pictures next to each other of men who have the same hair colour,” she remarked, challenging the assumptions about her preferences.

Carpenter emphasized that she is drawn to partners who possess the same qualities as her closest friends. “I want to be with someone who’s going to be one of my best friends,” she explained. “So a lot of it is energy and humour and being genuine. I’ve always connected more with people who are really in touch with their emotions.”
The singer is currently dating Irish actor Barry Keoghan, 31, with their relationship becoming public in February after they were spotted sharing a kiss in Los Angeles. Their romance was further confirmed by their joint appearances at high-profile events such as the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty and the Met Gala.
Carpenter and Keoghan also celebrated her birthday together with a grand party at DUMBO House in Brooklyn, attended by around 100 guests.
Reflecting on her approach to relationships, Carpenter told Cosmopolitan UK, “A lot of it, for me, has been fate. I don’t actively look for it. The relationships that I actually want to put my energy into have to be so interesting or invigorating because they take me away from the other things I love.”
Recently, Carpenter made her debut as a musical guest on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ performing alongside host Jake Gyllenhaal. This opportunity came shortly after the release of her latest single, ‘Espresso,’ which secured a spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
In addition to her solo success, Carpenter was a supporting act for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, performing in various locations from August 2023 to March 2024. She likened the experience to a Broadway show, praising its synchronization and spontaneity.
