Sam Fender has officially released a new duet version of ‘Rein Me In’ featuring Olivia Dean. The track, which originally appeared on Fender’s third studio album ‘People Watching’, now includes a fresh vocal contribution from Dean and is available on streaming platforms. A new video has been shared, showcasing footage from Fender’s recent sold-out performances in London and Newcastle, filmed by Daniel Broadley.
‘People Watching’, which arrived in February, achieved the biggest UK opening week for a British act since Harry Styles’ ‘Harry’s House’. It also became Fender’s most successful album launch to date, surpassing the combined first-week sales of his previous records, ‘Hypersonic Missiles’ (2019) and ‘Seventeen Going Under’ (2021).
Fender had been previewing the duet during his UK stadium tour earlier this month, first inviting Dean on stage at London Stadium in front of an audience of 80,000. The pair also performed the song together at Fender’s two massive homecoming concerts at St. James’ Park in Newcastle.

Speaking about the collaboration, Fender explained that he prefers his guests to contribute original parts rather than simply replicate his lyrics. He praised Dean for bringing a new perspective to ‘Rein Me In’, calling their recent stadium performances together a real highlight. Dean said that the track was her favourite from the album and that it had been a joy to write a new verse for it. She added that she had long admired Fender’s work and was thrilled to collaborate with him.
During his UK tour, Fender brought out several surprise guests. In addition to Dean, his former guitar teacher joined him for a cover of Thin Lizzy’s ‘The Boys Are Back in Town’, while his brother Liam and Irish artist CMAT also appeared on stage for a performance of ‘Something Heavy’.
One of the standout moments of Fender’s Newcastle shows came when he paid tribute to footballer Dan Burn, who helped Newcastle United claim their first major domestic trophy in 70 years. Burn was present at the concert, where the crowd broke into chants of his name.
Fender’s Summer Tour & Dean’s ‘The Art of Loving’ Release
Later this summer, Fender will perform at three major outdoor venues in Manchester, Edinburgh, and Belfast, and is also scheduled to headline Ireland’s Electric Picnic festival. A limited number of tickets are still available for his UK and Ireland shows.
Meanwhile, Olivia Dean is preparing to release her second album, ‘The Art of Loving’, which is scheduled to arrive on 26 September via Capitol.
