Scarlett Johansson was recently spotted on the streets of New York City, filming scenes for the highly anticipated reboot of 'The Exorcist.' The 41-year-old actress went makeup-free for the shoot on Tuesday afternoon, working alongside her co-star Chiwetel Ejiofor under the direction of horror master Mike Flanagan.

The two actors were seen outside a building cordoned off with yellow police tape, appearing deep in a worried and tense conversation. Surrounded by extras dressed as police officers, Johansson kept her look practical and grounded, wearing a red button-up shirt, jeans, a simple coat, and sneakers. Ejiofor, 48, stayed warm in a grey coat and matching trousers. In the film, Scarlett Johansson plays a mother, with young actor Jacobi Jupe cast as her son.

Director Mike Flanagan has expressed his excitement about the partnership, noting back in November that Scarlett is a brilliant performer whose work always feels real and grounded, whether she's in a massive blockbuster or a specific genre film. He added that he couldn't be happier to have her lead this new chapter of the franchise.

More About Scarlett Johansson's 'The Exorcist'

Fans can expect a fresh start with this project. While it lives within the broader 'Exorcist' universe, it is carving out its own path with a brand-new storyline rather than following the events of 2023's 'The Exorcist: Believer.' The star-studded cast also includes Carla Gugino, Diane Lane, John Leguizamo, and Hamish Linklater.

The film, which is currently scheduled for a March 2027 release, carries a heavy legacy. The original 1973 classic, directed by William Friedkin and starring Ellen Burstyn and Linda Blair, remains a cinematic powerhouse that won two Academy Awards and earned over $441 million throughout its lifetime.
