For its eagerly awaited fourth season, HBO's Emmy-winning satire 'The White Lotus' will return to Europe, this time focusing on the opulent French Riviera. The next installment of the anthology series will be filmed by creator Mike White and his crew at the lavish Château de La Messardière, a 19th-century castle that has been transformed into a luxury hotel in Saint Tropez, France. Known for its biting look at wealth, privilege and human folly, the show has become famous for using its exotic, luxurious locations almost as characters in their own right, and the Château promises to deliver even more breathtaking backdrops for the ensemble drama.
A Hit Franchise: From Hawaii to Sicily to Thailand
'The White Lotus' has captivated audiences since its 2021 premiere with its incisive social satire and compelling narrative. Every season centers on a group of affluent guests and the hotel staff over the course of a week, combining humour, suspense, and frequently sinister turns as personal secrets and class struggle emerge. The first season, which was set at Hawaii's breathtaking Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, won praise from critics and a devoted following.

In season two, the action moved to Taormina, Sicily's ancient Four Seasons San Domenico Palace, immersing viewers in the grandeur of the Italian coast and seething interpersonal drama. In season three, the plot moved to Thailand, fusing psychological depth with a tropical paradise. The series' distinctive setting for each season has grown to be a defining feature, enhancing the story and presenting authentic luxury travel spots across the globe.
'The White Lotus' has become one of HBO's most notable anthology programs thanks to its unique blend of comedy, tragedy, and social criticism. Along the road, it has received numerous nominations and accolades. The announcement of a French Riviera setting has only increased viewers' excitement for what new people and issues the show will explore as they look forward to the next part.

A French Riviera Setting and What's Ahead
The Château de La Messardière, a famous 19th-century mansion perched above Saint-Tropez Bay and surrounded by parasol pines, jasmine, and cypress trees, has been selected as the primary filming location for season four of 'The White Lotus.' The Château, which was once a wedding present for a French aristocracy, was transformed into a hotel and renovated into one of France's most upscale retreats, complete with opulent suites, fine dining establishments, a spa, and private beach access via Rolls-Royce conveyance.

Filming is scheduled to start in late April 2026 and go through October. The plot will not be limited to a particular house, as it has been in previous seasons. The upcoming season will have a wider, more cinematic canvas thanks to production that will take place in addition to the Château at several places along the French Riviera and possibly in Paris.
Rumours suggest that iconic events like the Cannes Film Festival—which runs in May—might feature in the storyline, fitting the series’ tradition of intertwining glamour with critique.
