Selena Gomez captured the highest engagement from TikTok users in the past year. With nearly 60 million followers, Gomez secures the title of TikTok's most popular artist in the United States. The versatile performer consistently shares content featuring trending sounds, putting her at the forefront of the top 10 musicians alongside Ice Spice, Natalie Jane, Lizzo, Ariana Grande, and others.

Securing the second spot globally, Gomez trailed only behind Kim Loaiza and outperformed the likes of Blackpink, Shakira and BTS. The credit is entirely attributed to Gomez, whose February video preparing for a 6 a.m. flight garnered over 24 million likes, securing the fourth position on the list of top trending videos in the United States.

In the realm of music, the latest song from the reigning social media queen—a remix of Rema's ‘Calm Down’ emerged as a hit, propelling her to the heights of the Billboard Hot 100 last spring. This track, a favourite on New York City's top R&B station WBLS, has since been featured in 1.8 million TikTok videos.

TikTok's year-end rankings hold significance, especially because of Gomez's announcement in February. At that time, she declared a hiatus from social media and decided to step away from TikTok due to some drama involving Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner. In a TikTok Live session, Gomez expressed, “I’m going to be taking a second from social media because this is a little silly. I’m 30 and am too old for this. But I love you so much and I’ll see you guys sooner than later. I’m just gonna take a break from everything.”
