Selena Gomez Shares Excitement Over ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ Return

‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ is officially returning this autumn and Selena Gomez is ecstatic about it. Disney made the announcement earlier this year. Following the news, Gomez and her former co-star David Henrie shared their excitement on Instagram. Wizards, the follow-up, will star a mix of returning and new talent, with executive producer roles going to Gomez and Henrie.

Gomez posted a comment on the announcement post that was accompanied by a vintage show image that further demonstrated her excitement. The first season of the show had been picked up, she later revealed when she reposted the news on her Instagram Story. On his Instagram Story, Henrie expressed his excitement for the upcoming series as well.

Gomez and Henrie will make a comeback in the follow-up, playing their respective siblings from the first series. There will also be the introduction of new characters portrayed by Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, Max Matenko, and Mimi Gianopulos.

The plot will centre on Justin Russo, who attempts to live a normal life free from wizardry, only to have it upended by the appearance of his sister, Alex, and Janice Brown, a young wizard whom he must train.

Writing and executive producing the new show will be Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, who are well-known for their work on Disney Channel’s Raven’s Home. April is when production is scheduled to start.

The news of the sequel was revealed in response to Disney’s social media teases for upcoming shows, and Henrie posted a picture of himself with Selena Gomez, new writers, and cast members on his Instagram Story, promising to work magic. Later this year, the Wizards television series is anticipated to debut on Disney Channel and Disney+.
