Shakira Says Rumour of Finding Out Gerard Piqué Was Cheating via Jam Jar is Not True

In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Shakira addressed a rumour that she broke up with Gerard Piqué. The 47-year-old singer of ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ categorically refuted claims that her ex-partner’s alleged adultery was discovered using a jar of jam, declaring, “Not true.” The couple, who had been dating for 11 years, called it quits in June 2022. Milan, who is 11, and Sasha, who is 9, are their two sons. After their breakup, Piqué started dating Clara Chia Marti.

Just two months before her split from Piqué, Shakira released the song and music video for ‘Te Felicito’ featuring Rauw Alejandro, sparking speculation. There have been theories about how the singer discovered Piqué’s new relationship since the music video showed her opening her refrigerator.

In May 2022, Shakira talked about the incident in an interview with the British television program This Morning. She said she opened the fridge “to find the truth” and made a funny comment about seeing Rauw Alejandro’s head inside. Furthermore, according to an interview with the Spanish TV program Socialite, Shakira found out about Piqué’s supposed adultery when she returned from a trip and realized her jam was missing—this is because neither Piqué nor their kids had eaten that specific flavour.

Though it’s hard to confirm the supposed interview, Shakira’s followers have kept the theory alive on social media with a ton of tweets about jams. Shakira, however, denied knowing anything about the situation in a recent interview with The Sunday Times.

She talked about putting love before her career in the same interview, mentioning the sacrifices she made to help Piqué with his football career.

Shakira also discussed her upcoming release via Sony Latin, ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ (Women No Longer Cry), which is entirely recorded in Spanish. She thought back on the difficulties she had encountered and how music had enabled her to rebuild herself, describing it as a metaphor for the conversion of suffering into creativity and fortitude.
