Shawn Levy to Adapt Popular BookTok Novel, ‘Never Lie’
While enjoying the successful box office debut of his latest Marvel film, the director of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, Shawn Levy, isn’t taking a break. The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Levy’s production company, 21 Laps Entertainment, is collaborating with Netflix to adapt Freida McFadden’s best-selling novel, ‘Never Lie’.
Levy, along with his partners Dan Cohen and Dan Levine, will produce the psychological thriller as part of their first-look feature deal with Netflix. Previously, 21 Laps Entertainment has partnered with Netflix on projects like ‘All the Light We Cannot See’ and the murder drama series ‘The Perfect Couple’. Never Lie tells the story of a newlywed couple searching for their dream home who discover an old estate that once belonged to a famous psychiatrist who disappeared four years ago. A blizzard traps them inside the manor, and the wife finds audio tapes of the psychiatrist’s sessions with her patients.
She is terrified when she recognizes a voice on one of the tapes but can’t recall why it sounds familiar. McFadden is currently a top author, with six books in Amazon’s top 20 chart as of July.
Levy is currently at the peak of his career, with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ breaking box office records for an R-rated movie. He is also working on a ‘Star Wars’ project with Jonathan Tropper writing the script. Levy has directed several episodes of Netflix’s hit sci-fi series ‘Stranger Things’, which is in production for its fifth and final season, set to release in 2025.
No release date has been set for ‘Never Lie’.
