Paramount has released the first trailer for ‘Smile 2’, the sequel to the 2022 horror hit. Set to premiere on 18th October, the film stars Naomi Scott as a pop star who becomes tormented by a malevolent curse that manifests through eerie smiles. Parker Finn, the writer and director of the original ‘Smile’, returns along with actor Kyle Gallner, reprising his role as police officer Joel.
The series follows a relentless demon that drives its victims to suicide, appearing through various human hosts with sinister grins.

The first film ends with Joel witnessing the gruesome death of his ex-girlfriend Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon), who sets herself on fire under the influence of the grinning demon. The curse dictates that anyone who sees a victim's death becomes the next target, suggesting Joel's impending doom.
The cast also includes Lukas Gage, Rosemarie DeWitt, Dylan Gelula, Raúl Castillo, and Miles Gutierrez-Riley. Initially planned for a streaming-only release on Paramount+, the first ‘Smile’ was given a full theatrical release, earning $217 million worldwide. This success likely prompted Paramount to greenlight the sequel, with hopes of establishing a new horror franchise.

Following the first film's release, Finn hinted at more stories to tell in the ‘Smile’ universe: “I do think that there is still a lot of interesting stuff to explore in the world of ‘Smile’. There certainly are stones that I left unturned by design.”
‘Smile 2’ is scheduled for release on 18th October.
