Snoop Dogg Reveals Dr. Dre Has Always Been a “Big Brother” in Heartfelt Discussion

In a recent interview with the ‘Capital XTRA’ radio program, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre opened up about their deep-rooted 30-year friendship, highlighting how their relationship has evolved from business partners to family. Snoop Dogg described Dr. Dre as a constant source of guidance and support, noting that Dre has always been like a big brother and mentor to him.

“Dr. Dre has always been a big brother, a mentor. But he taught me professionalism as far as how to separate from the hood and how to, you know, get on a business venture, and just look forward and not really pay attention to what’s behind you,” Snoop said. He added, “He’s always had the attitude and spirit of ‘I don’t care about what I’ve made, it’s all about what I’m about to make.’ And that’s a good spirit that I’ve taken from him.”

Snoop also shared his admiration for Dre’s unwavering focus on the future. “I don’t even know how many albums I’ve made since I started, but it’s always about what’s next, what’s best,” Snoop said, reflecting on his inspiration from Dre’s approach to their careers.

Dr. Dre, for his part, emphasised how much he values his collaboration with Snoop. “He’s like a big brother, protector. I just love being with him in the studio and in real life,” Snoop remarked, highlighting their strong personal and professional bond. Their recent project, Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop, a ready-to-drink cocktail inspired by Snoop’s 1994 hit single, showcases their continued partnership.

The two first collaborated when Snoop featured on Dre’s debut single “Deep Cover” in 1992 and has since worked together on numerous projects, including the iconic 1993 album ‘Doggystyle’ and the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show. Snoop praised Dre for his leadership and how it allowed him to focus solely on his artistry. “When I’m with him, I can just be an artist, I can just be Snoop Dogg,” Snoop said.

Dr. Dre acknowledged the mutual trust in their collaboration, explaining, “It takes a massive amount of trust to be in this position to let somebody like Snoop and his calibre trust me with his s—.” He further expressed his commitment to maintaining that trust, stating, “I love that he gives me that trust with his career, and I’m never going to let my bro down.”
