Sophie Turner and Kit Harington are teaming up again, but their new project is a far cry from their time as the Stark siblings on 'Game of Thrones.' The duo stars as love interests in the upcoming gothic horror film 'The Dreadful,' which just released its first intense trailer.

What is 'The Dreadful' About?

The story takes place in medieval England and follows a woman named Anne, played by Turner, who is caught in a difficult living situation with her controlling mother-in-law, Morwen. Their isolated life on the fringes of society is full of hardship, with Morwen even resorting to theft and violence to get by. Things change when Jago, played by Harington, returns from war with the news that Anne's husband is dead.

As Anne and Jago grow closer, Morwen grows increasingly suspicious, warning Anne to stay away from sin. The trailer hints at a dark atmosphere where evil hides in plain sight and a mysterious curse begins to threaten everyone involved.

The film's director, Natasha Kermani, praised the cast for their dedication to the project, noting that they braved freezing rain and mud in the English countryside to bring this eerie folktale to life. She described Turner as the emotional core of the movie and highlighted the joy of seeing her reunite with Harington for such powerful performances.

While the two actors are close friends, they admitted that playing romantic leads was a massive adjustment after spending a decade as brother and sister on screen. Sophie Turner joked in previous interviews that she felt like she needed to apologise to fans because the transition felt so strange. She even laughed about how both she and Kit Harington felt physically ill during their first scripted kiss because of their "family" history.

Despite the initial awkwardness, Sophie Turner was the one who pushed for Kit Harington to take the role. She recalled that when she first looked at the script and realised how many intimate scenes they shared, she had a moment of realisation that she was about to film these moments with her "brother." However, the story was so compelling that Harington agreed they had to do it.

Fans can see this dark reunion for themselves when 'The Dreadful' arrives on digital platforms on 20th February.
