NBA superstar Stephen Curry is stepping off the court and into the recording booth with 'GOAT', a new animated film from Sony Pictures Animation and his own Unanimous Media. Best known for 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse', the studio teams up with Curry to bring an energetic underdog tale to life—this time, with a full cast of talking animals.

Premiering its first trailer on 30th July, 'GOAT' centres on a determined young goat named Will, voiced by 'Stranger Things' actor Caleb McLaughlin. Will dreams of becoming a professional player in "roarball," a co-ed, full-contact sport played by the fiercest animals in the world. Despite being overlooked due to his small size, Will refuses to back down.

Who is Stephen Curry Voicing?

Stephen Curry, 37, voices Lenny Williamson, a wise and lanky giraffe who plays a key role in Will’s journey. He shared that the story resonated with him on a deeply personal level. Stephen Curry described how he, too, was underestimated throughout his athletic career, having been seen as "underrated" and constantly seeking the right opportunity to prove himself. Like Will, Curry found strength in his individuality and built confidence over time—an experience that shaped his rise to NBA greatness.

Beyond the parallels to his own story, Stephen Curry highlighted the film’s strong message about teamwork. He emphasised that success in any field, including sports and life, relies heavily on the people around you. 'GOAT' weaves that theme into its storyline as Will joins a sceptical new team and works to earn their respect and reshape the game itself.

The film also features a vibrant voice cast that includes Curry’s wife, Ayesha Curry, as well as Gabrielle Union, Nick Kroll, and others.

Stephen Curry's First Voice Role Ever

'GOAT' marks Curry’s first major animated voice role, following smaller cameos on shows like 'Family Guy' and 'The Simpsons'. He described the voice acting process as unexpectedly immersive—far more physical and emotionally expressive than he had imagined. Curry noted that embodying a character with only his voice required him to channel full-body energy and emotion into every line, calling the experience both challenging and fun.

He expressed pride in the final product, saying the film offers something for everyone, from laughs and high-energy action to emotional depth. He believes viewers will relate to at least one character in the story—and likely more—and that 'GOAT' is best enjoyed on the big screen thanks to its striking visuals and unique animal-populated world.

'GOAT' hits theatres on 13th February 2026, just in time to inspire a new generation of dreamers with its message: "smalls can ball."
