Stevie Nicks has once more addressed the possibility of a Fleetwood Mac reunion following Christine McVie’s passing. McVie’s death in late November 2022, after a short illness, cast doubt on the band’s future. In February last year, Mick Fleetwood stated that “the line in the sand has been drawn with the loss of Chris,” indicating that the band would not return.
By October, Stevie Nicks shared a similar view, suggesting there was “no reason” to reunite without McVie. In a recent interview with Mojo, Nicks has firmly reiterated her stance: “Without Christine, no can do. There is no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together in any way. Without her, it just couldn’t work.”

Nicks reflected on McVie’s final days, recounting how she received a call from McVie’s family after the singer had suffered a stroke. Nicks had planned to visit her immediately but was advised not to, as McVie’s family wasn’t sure she would survive that long. McVie passed away the next day.
“I wanted to be there and sit by her bed and sing to her – which definitely would have made her pass away faster. But I needed to be with her. And I didn’t get to do that. So that was very hard for me. I didn’t get to say goodbye.”

During her conversation with Mojo, Nicks also discussed other reasons why a Fleetwood Mac reunion wouldn’t work. Although her relationship with Lindsey Buckingham has improved since he left the band, she’s uncertain about his ability to handle another tour. “Even if I thought I could work with Lindsey again, he’s had some health problems. It’s not for me to say, but I’m not sure if Lindsey could do the kind of touring that Fleetwood Mac does, where you go out for a year and a half. It’s so demanding.”
Despite his recent health issues, Buckingham expressed interest in a possible reunion earlier this year, saying he would rejoin the line-up “in a heartbeat.”
