Sydney Sweeney Claps Back at Producer Criticizing Her Acting Skills: ‘How Sad’ and ‘Shameful’

Last week, Sydney Sweeney came under assault from veteran Hollywood producer Carol Baum, who deemed her popular romantic comedy ‘Anyone but You’ “unwatchable” and questioned both her looks and her skills.

In response to Baum’s comments, a representative for Sweeney expressed displeasure and emphasized how unfortunate it is for a powerful woman to choose to disparage another woman. The statement went on to highlight the dubious lesson Baum’s remarks teach—given her long history in the business—calling it “shameful” to unfairly denigrate another female producer.

Baum expressed her perplexity about Sweeney’s popularity during a Pleasantville, New York, conversation with New York Times film critic Janet Maslin. Baum criticized both Sweeney’s performance in ‘Anyone but You’ and the movie itself.

Baum caused a stir with her remarks, which she made while serving as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Southern California. TMZ later revealed that Baum expressed contrition for the event.

In the meantime, Sweeney is still finding success in her profession despite the criticism; after the success of ‘Anyone but You,’ she recently produced and starred in the independent horror film ‘Immaculate.’

Sweeney continues to be a rising star in Hollywood thanks to her parts in critically praised television shows like ‘Euphoria’ and ‘White Lotus,’ strengthening her reputation with noteworthy accomplishments in both acting and producing.
