Sydney Sweeney Takes Lead Role in Jon M. Chu’s Thrilling ‘Split Fiction’ Film Adaptation

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Sydney Sweeney will play the lead role in Jon M. Chu’s upcoming movie adaptation of the popular video game ‘Split Fiction’.
The original game, which was made by Hazelight Studios and released by Electronic Arts, tells the tale of two writers named Mio and Zoe who become stuck in the imaginary worlds they made up. ‘Split Fiction’, which sold two million copies in its first week of release in March, was an immediate hit because of its creative split-screen cooperative gameplay.
Sweeney is also attached as an executive producer, though her exact role in the movie has not yet been disclosed. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ authors Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wrote the screenplay, and Chu will direct the movie. Chu’s Electric Somewhere and Mike Goldberg and Dmitri M. Johnson’s Story Kitchen are producing the project.

The movie is the latest in a string of significant endeavours for Sweeney, who is rapidly rising to prominence in the video game adaptation industry. Additionally, she is collaborating with director Michael Bay on a film adaptation of the iconic Sega racing game ‘OutRun’, which Universal Pictures is supporting. Sweeney will once more play the roles of both producer and star in that production.
Sweeney continues to be active in a variety of genres in addition to her gaming-related endeavours. She will play boxing superstar Christy Martin in an upcoming biopic and act and produce a movie based on the popular Reddit article ‘I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl’. In addition, she co-stars with Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar in the psychological thriller ‘The Housemaid’, which is based on the best-selling book by Freida McFadden and will debut on OTT this Christmas.
