Sweeney has been establishing herself as a prominent talent at Sony Pictures, notably co-starring alongside Dakota Johnson in the Marvel Comics adaptation ‘Madame Web.’ Additionally, the studio has secured the rights to ‘The Registration,’ based on Madison Lawson’s thriller, with Sweeney set to star and Brad Fuller producing.

Beyond her film projects, Sweeney has gained recognition for her standout performances in HBO’s comedy series ‘The White Lotus’ and the acclaimed ‘Euphoria,’ earning Emmy nominations for both roles this year.

The original ‘Barbarella,’ based on the comic series by Jean-Claude Forest, starred Jane Fonda as the titular space-travelling heroine. While not a box office hit upon its release, the film has achieved cult status over the years, with ‘Barbarella’ remaining one of Fonda’s most iconic roles.

Despite various attempts over the years to develop a sequel or reboot, none have materialized until now. Sweeney’s involvement adds an exciting new dimension to the project, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next steps in the film’s production.
