Sylvester Stallone Got Seven Surgeries Due to Stunt Injuries on 'Expendables' Set

In the latest instalment of 'The Family Stallone' series, which premiered recently, the veteran action icon and filmmaker, opened up about his ongoing battle with injuries sustained during the filming of the action flick. Stallone revealed his upcoming seventh back surgery, a consequence of an on-set mishap involving WWE legend Steve Austin, who accidentally body-slammed him during a particularly intense fight sequence.

Reflecting on the incident, Stallone candidly admitted to pushing his physical limits while directing Expendables, despite knowing the risks involved. Recounting the moment of impact, he expressed feeling a significant jolt that left a lasting impact on his health. This injury, he confessed, marked a turning point in his physical well-being, and subsequent surgeries have failed to fully restore his previous condition.

During a segment of the show, Stallone's wife, Jennifer Flavin, reflected on the harrowing experience, describing it as a “scary time" for the family whenever Stallone faced surgery. The impending operation also posed a significant obstacle to the family's plans to relocate from Los Angeles to Florida, adding further complexity to an already challenging situation.

In a particular scene from the movie, WWE legend Steve Austin forcefully hurled Stallone against a rugged stone wall. The impact caused Stallone to suffer severe injuries, including dislocated shoulders and a fractured neck. To address these serious medical issues, he underwent surgery to have a metal plate inserted into his neck and underwent spinal fusions as part of the treatment process.

In the second season's premiere, Stallone, alongside his wife Jennifer Flavin, deliberated on their decision to relocate to Florida, seeking a fresh start away from the confines of California. Amidst discussions with their daughters—Scarlet, Sistine, and Sophia—Stallone shared their plans for the move, highlighting the significance of bidding farewell to a place rich with cherished memories.

Flavin echoed Stallone's sentiments, expressing her desire for a transformative change and emphasising the emotional weight of leaving behind a lifetime of memories in California. The decision to uproot their lives represents a pivotal moment for the family, as they navigate new beginnings and embrace the prospect of a different chapter in Florida.
