Sza Reveals She Only Started Making Music to “Prove a Point” to Her Ex-Fiancé

In a chat with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, American singer and songwriter SZA opened up about her musical journey, sharing how she initially felt uncertain about diving into the music scene. The R&B artist credited her ex-fiancé for nudging her onto the musical path, admitting, “I was doing music to prove a point. I am always proving a point.”

When Lowe probed about the mystery behind this point, SZA revealed, “When I started making music, it was to my ex-fiancé, because he was paying for everything—my food, my clothes, where I lived.” The ‘Kill Bill’ singer laid bare her insecurities, comparing herself to her ex-man’s accomplished ex-girlfriends, who were lawyers, businesswomen and artists. \
