Drawing parallels between her lyrical style and Dickinson’s poetic sensibilities, Swift invoked the spirit of the 19th-century poet, humorously likening her songwriting to “a letter written by Emily Dickinson’s great-grandmother while sewing a lace curtain,” a whimsical nod to her artistic influences.

Moreover, Swift’s dedicated fan base, fondly referred to as Swifties has long speculated on the thematic inspirations behind her ninth studio album, ‘Evermore’. Released in December the very same date as Dickinson’s birthday the album’s title itself evokes echoes of Dickinson’s poetic oeuvre, with a subtle nod to the closing line of her poem ‘One Sister Have I in Our House’.
