Taylor Swift Announces New Album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ at The 2024 Grammys

Taylor Swift brought a wave of surprises to the 2024 Grammy Awards. The music maestro clinched the best pop vocal album trophy for her stellar work, ‘Midnights,’ edging out tough competition from the likes of Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Chemistry,’ Miley Cyrus’ ‘Endless Summer Vacation,’ Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Guts’ and Ed Sheeran’s ‘(Subtract).’

Accepting her 13th Grammy, a number she calls her “lucky,” Swift delighted fans with a bombshell announcement – her upcoming album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ is set to drop on 19th April.

In her acceptance speech, Swift graciously thanked the Recording Academy members while subtly acknowledging that the fans’ passion played a pivotal role in her victory. With a mischievous smile, she spilled the beans on a well-kept secret: the imminent release of her latest album.

“I’ve been keeping this from you for the last two years,” Swift confessed, “my brand new album comes out on 19th April. It’s called ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’ I’m gonna go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you. I love you. Thank you.”

Swift’s previous offering, ‘Midnights,’ unveiled in October 2022, marked her tenth original studio album. The album skyrocketed on the Billboard Hot 100, with chart-toppers like ‘Anti-Hero,’ claiming the No. 1 spot, and other hits like ‘Lavender Haze’ and ‘Karma’ securing comfortable positions at No. 2.

Describing the album as a musical journey through the realms of terrors and sweet dreams, Swift spoke to the night owls among us. “This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through the floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching — hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve…we’ll meet ourselves.”
