Taylor Swift Expresses Displeasure Over No-Call on Travis Kelce’s Play

Taylor Swift didn’t hide her frustration with NFL officials during Travis Kelce’s game on 17th December.

The 34-year-old pop star passionately supported her boyfriend Kelce (34) as he played for the Kansas City Chiefs against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium. Swift wasn’t pleased with every call made by the referees.

In the third quarter, Kelce missed a pass from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes while being defended by Patriots cornerback Myles Bryant. Expressing his dissatisfaction with the play, Kelce raised his hands, expecting a pass interference call that never came. Swift, visibly upset, jumped to her feet in a suit and yelled toward the field, as shown in a clip shared by ESPN.

In the same suite, Alana Haim, along with Swift, her dad Scott Swift, and Brittany Mahomes, also seemed frustrated by the third-quarter no-call.

Despite the controversial moment, the Chiefs turned the drive into a scoring opportunity, increasing their lead by seven points with a field goal. In the end, whether there was a call or not, Kelce and the Chiefs secured a 27-17 victory over the Patriots.

Swift’s recent appearance follows her support for her NFL star boyfriend in a home game at Arrowhead Stadium against the Buffalo Bills just a week ago. Unfortunately, the 10th December game ended on a sad note when a touchdown play by Kelce was nullified due to a penalty, leading to a 20-17 loss to the New York team.

In her Time’s 2023 Person of the Year interview, published on 6th December, the ‘Lovers’ singer shared that after attending several Chiefs games to support Kelce, she has developed a newfound appreciation for football. The ‘Anti-Hero’ singer expressed, “Football is awesome, it turns out. I’ve been missing out my whole life.”

The NFL and the Chiefs, expressed their appreciation for Swift’s growing interest in the sport on X (formerly Twitter), with the AFC West-leading team humorously stating, “We tend to have that effect on people.”

During the interview, Swift acknowledged the increased attention on her during games, which began when she attended her first Chiefs matchup on 24th September. Despite some football enthusiasts expressing displeasure at the coverage of the “Cruel Summer” singer during games, Swift clarified that she has no control over it.

“I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in. There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once,” said Swift.

She emphasized that her motive for attending the games was to support Travis, stating, “I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
