Taylor Swift's mention of Charlie Puth on her most recent album surprised many of her followers.

The 34-year-old Grammy winner teasingly teases her companion about his love of antiquated typewriters and his comparison to famous poets on the title track of ‘Tortured Poets Department.'

Swift introduces Puth unexpectedly early in the song, crooning, "You smoked then ate seven bars of chocolate/ We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist."

In 2021, while she sang her early hit song ‘Teardrops on My Guitar,’ he lauded her songwriting abilities and referred to her as a "genius."

When Swift joined TikTok that same year, they continued their amicable banter there as well. Greeting her affectionately, Puth called her his "fellow Sag." Swift replied in a lighthearted manner, calling him the "piano prince" and revealing that he had been secretly monitoring his account.

Swift has been teasing details about the contents of the ‘Tortured Poets Department’ for the past few months, ever since she announced the album's impending release. She discussed how songwriting helped her get through difficult periods in her life when she was on tour in Melbourne.
