Taylor Swift Performs ‘Mary’s Song’ in Amsterdam After 16 Years

Taylor Swift delighted fans at her Eras Tour show in Amsterdam with a surprise performance on a memorable Saturday. During the secret songs segment, she delivered a captivating mashup of ‘Mary’s Song’, ‘So High School’ and ‘Everything Has Changed’, much to the excitement of the sold-out crowd. At the end of the mashup, Swift sang the closing lyrics of her 2006 classic ‘Mary’s Song’, which has gained new significance since she began dating NFL star Travis Kelce.

The heartfelt lines, ‘I’ll be 87, you’ll be 89 / I’ll still look at you like the stars that shine / In the sky, oh My my my’, now resonate with fans because Kelce’s jersey number is 87 and both he and Swift were born in 1989 (the title of one of her albums). Swift beamed as she performed the song for the first time since 2008, and the audience erupted in cheers. Kelce, who was present for this special moment, has become a regular attendee at Swift’s record-breaking stadium tour and even joined her onstage in London.

Among the audience members enjoying this special moment were Kelce’s teammate, Patrick Mahomes, and his wife, Brittany Mahomes. The couple made a stop in Amsterdam during their European vacation, which also included visits to Spain, London, and Switzerland.

With football players in the crowd, Swift playfully altered the lyrics of ‘Karma’ to include a mention of “the guy on the Chiefs,” a nod she includes whenever Kelce is in attendance. These Amsterdam shows mark her first visit to the Netherlands since the 1989 World Tour, as she skipped the country during her Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018.

Swift’s trio of concerts in the Dutch capital followed a series of tour dates in Dublin, where she handled a minor stage malfunction with grace and hosted Kelce and actress Julia Roberts. Both were spotted in the VIP tent, and a viral clip of Roberts with Kelce showed the actress expressing her joy for the couple, saying, “I’m so unusually happy for you guys, and I don’t mean to make you nervous, but it makes me so happy.”

Next on Swift’s tour schedule is Zürich, Switzerland, where she is set to perform for two consecutive nights. Fans can look forward to more of her three-and-a-half-hour spectacular shows as she continues to mesmerise audiences across Europe.
