Taylor Swift Reveals Godmother Role to This Celebrity Couple’s Kids
Taylor Swift is embracing an important new role — godmother! The ‘Fortnight’ musician, 34, shared a heartfelt post on her Instagram Stories celebrating her “best friend” Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming movie ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, set to release 26th July. In her post, Swift revealed her new title as godmother to Reynolds and Blake Lively’s children.
“Shout out to Wade Wilson, aka my godkids’ sperm donor!” Swift wrote, referencing Reynolds’ character Deadpool’s real name. Lively and Reynolds have four children — daughters James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4, along with their youngest, Olin, born in February 2023, whose sex they have not disclosed.

Swift is also godmother to her close friend Jaime King’s son Leo Thames, 9. King previously told PEOPLE that the decision to name Swift as godmother was based on Swift’s morals, values, work ethic, and how she treats others, qualities she wanted in a spiritual guide for her child.
In May, Reynolds and Lively’s daughters received special recognition when Lively brought her three older kids to see Swift’s Eras tour in Madrid, Spain. Lively and her daughters were seen enthusiastically dancing to ‘Shake It Off’ from the floor. During the show, Swift gave a shoutout to Lively’s daughters, mentioning how some of her favourite characters in her album Folklore are named James, Inez, and Betty.
Earlier that month, Reynolds appeared on the Today show and joked about their newest child’s name when Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb mentioned Swift’s song ‘Betty.’ “Taylor Swift keeps dropping it into lyrics!” Guthrie said, to which Reynolds responded, “We always wait for Taylor to tell us what the child’s name is, and I’ll say this: We’re still waiting.”
Reynolds also shared that they kept their daughters’ names in ‘Betty’ a secret from them until the song was finished, surprising them with it. He revealed this during a SiriusXM Town Hall interview in August 2021, noting that the girls had no idea beforehand.
