Taylor Swift Unveils ‘The Archer’ Performance from ‘The Eras Tour’

Before Taylor Swift’s fans can enjoy celebrating her birthday by tuning in to her Eras Tour concert film at home, they’re in for an early treat. Ahead of the on-demand release of ‘The Eras Tour’ on 13th December, fans are getting a sneak peek at the previously unseen footage in the extended rental version of the film.

A clip was premiered on 12th December featuring the pop superstar’s performance of the fan-favourite track ‘The Archer’ from her 2019 album ‘Lover’, which was initially left out of the theatrical release. In the short clip, the 33-year-old Grammy winner is amid her ‘Lover’ set, dressed in a pastel-coloured Atelier Versace bodysuit, gracefully gliding down the stadium show’s long runway.

As she sings the lyrics, “Combat, I’m ready for combat / I say I don’t want that, but what if I do? / ‘Cause cruelty wins in the movies / I’ve got a hundred thrown-out speeches I almost said to you,” the preview captures her strutting down the stage. The clip also includes close-up shots of the singer-songwriter smiling and making sweet eye contact with the crowd.

Fans can catch the entire performance of ‘The Archer’ starting tomorrow when ‘The Eras Tour (Extended Version)’ becomes available on digital on-demand. And it’s not just the synth-pop song; there are more new additions to the concert film for fans to look forward to.

After the theatrical version made some cuts to the setlist to fit its runtime, the digital release will see three songs added back in. Alongside ‘The Archer,’ fans can now enjoy performances of ‘Long Live’ from the 2010 album ‘Speak Now’ and ‘Wildest Dreams’ from the 2014 album 1989.

Originally, Swift’s career-spanning 2023 tour film had a runtime of just over 2 hours and 45 minutes, shortened from the live show’s 3 hours and 15 minutes. The Extended Version will be approximately 15 minutes longer.

Filmed by director Sam Wrench during the August shows at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, certain portions of the setlist won’t be included in the on-demand version.

Notable exclusions are ‘Cardigan’ and ‘No Body, No Crime’ with Haim, performed during the L.A. dates. Other songs from the tour, including ‘Invisible String,’ ‘Nothing New’ with Phoebe Bridgers, the ‘Seven’ interlude, and ‘Tis the Damn Season,’ will also not be featured.
